Shindig

Terms of use

Last updated August 18, 2026. Plain language on purpose. This is a starting document and should be reviewed by a lawyer before Shindig handles money or scales beyond its first city.

What Shindig is. A directory and introduction service. We help you find a gathering or a room and put you in touch with whoever runs it. We are not a party to any agreement you reach with a host or an organiser, we do not own or operate the rooms listed, and we do not process payment between you and anyone.

Requests are not bookings. Sending a request reserves nothing. A booking exists only when the host confirms it directly with you, on whatever terms the two of you agree.

RSVPs are a courtesy, and they matter. Saying you’re coming and not turning up is the single fastest way to make a host stop opening their room. Every RSVP has a link that lets you change or cancel it in one click. Use it.

Hosts are responsible for their spaces. Hosts represent that they have the right to offer the space, that it complies with applicable occupancy, accessibility, licensing and safety law, and that their listing is accurate. Shindig does not inspect spaces and does not guarantee their condition.

Organisers are responsible for their gatherings. If you run an open gathering you agree to follow the host’s rules and applicable law, to represent it honestly, and to make a genuine effort to welcome someone who arrives on their own. That last one is the only rule we would remove a listing for breaking.

Guests are responsible for themselves. Follow the house rules, be honest about your headcount, and leave the room as you found it.

Listing accuracy. Listings marked “Sample” are illustrative examples created by Shindig to demonstrate the product. They are not real businesses and cannot be booked.

Reviews. We publish reviews only from people whose gathering we can verify happened. We remove reviews that are defamatory, off-topic, or written by someone with an undisclosed stake.

No warranty; limited liability. Shindig is provided as-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, loss, damage or dispute arising from a gathering, a space, a host, an organiser or a guest. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us, which for guests and organisers is zero.

Acceptable use. No scraping listings, no harvesting host or guest contact information for outside solicitation, no using Shindig to organise anything illegal or to harass anyone.

Ending it. Hosts may take a listing down at any time from their own console. We may remove a listing, a gathering or a user that puts people at risk or repeatedly wastes hosts’ time.

Changes. When these terms change materially, we date the change here and notify hosts and anyone with an open request.
